It is a very important place in any house because all the family members share their meals together. But because of less than adequate size, the enjoyment factor of eating together gets affected. So how to make your small dining room look larger? One option is to rebuild it but then that’s not a very affordable one. Another option is to do some tweaking in your existing dining room and create some space.

 

The first factor you need to consider is color. The visual size of a room is greatly influenced by color of the wall and ceiling. If you use lighter shade then the space will appear bigger whereas dark colors make room much smaller. First choose a color to paint the dining room and then use light shade. Small dining rooms can appear bigger if you use bigger windows. Use light and airy window treatments. One should use light filtering roman shades or nylon panels for this purpose. Applying right window treatments go a long way in making your dining room bigger. Another common trick used by many people is use of mirrors. Use large mirrors in your dining room because it creates the illusion of space. Having large wall mirrors make your room appear larger.

 

While you try to make your dining room bigger, try experimenting with lighting arrangement. One can use torch ere light or recessed spot lighting. They are not only visually appealing but also give the impression of larger dining room. Lastly, use appropriate furniture in your small dining room. Bulky furniture must be avoided. Use glass table and keep your dining room clutter free.

Making Quilt Design Wall

When a wall is used for hanging units of a quilt, it is termed as quilt design wall. Many urban households prefer to have a quilt design wall. It is actually very helpful for the artisan as he can have a good look at the design before finally sewing into a conclusive piece. Quilt making gets a great boost from quilt design wall as artisans can check out the flow of colors and various patterns. Now a day many people prefer to sew a quilt and for them below given guidelines will certainly come handy. One needs to check the size of the wall before plunging into quilt design wall. If the wall of the area is larger than the design wall also needs to be bigger.

 

You can choose to have a fixed or portable design wall. Size will have to be compromised if the design wall is portable. One rule is too having wall in such a way that you can analyze the design from eight feet away. You will have to make sure the fabric of the design wall is in accordance with your taste. The fabric should not be too heavy. Try using a flannel sheet if the design wall is big enough.
Fabric should remain same for both front as well as back of the design wall.

 

Batting is another important aspect of quilt design wall. Many people prefer to have cotton batting because of its air trapping ability. It also remains cool in water. While making the quilt design wall, three layers namely front, back and batting need to be stickled together. While sewing, use vertical lines. Thereafter, sew horizontal lines and after squaring the edges, your design wall is all set to be hung.
