Here are simple ways that can help you keep your house cool:

One of the simplest and the easiest way to keep your house cool especially during summers is to keep doors and windows closed. This will prevent warm air from entering the room. Open the windows in the evening, when the temperature has cooled down a bit.

In case of a central air conditioning system, you can stop it from cooling those areas of your house which are not used frequently. This will save electricity and will also keep only those areas cool which are in use.

You also need to seal the corners of windows and doors, to prevent hot air from entering your house. Also, check the walls and ceilings as a cracked ceiling cannot prevent hot air from outside to get in during the summer. Sprinkle cold water on the walls when it gets too hot. This will help to keep the walls of the room cool. This will cut down on the amount of heat transferred to the interiors.

It is also necessary to use the appliances wisely. Items like the refrigerator and washing machine give off heat when they are running. Avoid washing your clothes during this part of the day to minimize the amount of heat that can be trapped inside your home.

Incase it gets too hot use a table fan. Fans are a great way to improve the circulation of air in a room. They consume less energy than air conditioners and give almost the same level of cooling.
