Colors on the wall can be an interesting choice. With so many colors and base available much is possible to do with space and positioning. The magic of white can be appealing and also used to the advantage of giving a wide space. Wall colors are also getting into textures which are a wonderful way to explore new vistas inside your own home. Using putty for camouflage effect can be created to even the wall and allow a base coat to be applied.

Choosing the texture is very much of a personal choice. There are simple ones that give a layered feeling. Others have a bit of grainy texture and others also have a smooth finish. The recent thing in wall coloring is having three various colors per room and yet concluding it with a homogeneous effect. Wall textures also are stain resistant and easy to maintain. They have high endurance and also the effect stays rich for long.

The living room wall textures in red-silver are a striking combination and need not homogeneously blend with the other wall shades. While choosing the curtains, it is essential to simplify the tone so that the texturing stands loud and clear. Texturing or contoured effect for the wall paint is an expert’s job. One can do wonders even with deft brush strokes, rollers and also vague brushes or newspaper balls. It is mind boggling to explore the shades and the mixes brought in with the magic of blending two unique colors.

Texture can be done with blotchy paint effect, sponge effect or simple kid’s bedroom specials that seem like a fairy tale picture or a water effect. Bedrooms are often a difficult choice as the range in pastel shades and texturing is amazing. Go in for lemon and pink color combination with an ultra effect in mild texturing using rollers. This stays easy on the eyes and gets more interesting light effects to maintain the harmony.

Texturing can also be used for the exterior and can start with the door edgings. Keep the tone simple and modulate the wood color of the door to create a stunning effect. The idea is to keep the entrance inviting and yet be able to do something dramatic with textures. Texturing ideas can also be done with illusions that seem surreal especially when the lighting effect comes perfectly. Coordination in wood work and glass is essential to uplift the design effect of any room.

Designing small spaces

Contrary to the popular belief, small spaces can be decorated and designed quite well. You can make more room for yourself while giving each space your unique creation.

The first and the foremost thing that one needs to do while designing smaller spaces is to make sure that you do not clutter or clog your room with too many things. Often people want to have every possible thing in their room. This may affect the designing of the room and ultimately lose the charm. Hence, you need to slim down. Get rid of furniture pieces like table tops, side tables etc that you feel are really not required. Instead decorate your room with a comfortable bean bag.

You also need to cut down on your bulky items like window shades, blinds or even shutters. They block the natural light that enters your room. What you can do instead is customize your curtains in fabrics that are in sync with your room’s décor.

If you have a large house then you have the privilege of using many colors. However, too much color in a small one can work against your limited amount of space. Hence, try and paint all the walls in one color or use tones and shades of same colour with few changes from room to room.

To light up some corners of your room, position mirrors directly across from a window. Use semi gloss paint to reflect the light and keep your furniture polished and your appliances clean. As far as your fabrics are concerned, use those that provide depth such as strips and prints. This is the part where you can experiment and decide what suits your décor the most.
