It is easy to think of a makeover for your room and you may have planned it several times but when it comes to implementation, you found it is just so much of work, so much of planning and so much of dedication!

Well, here are we to provide you with some help: Get some inspiration: Buy Interior decoration magazines, surf the net, save some designs, visit exhibitions. Basically, expose yourself to as much as you can. The next step is to identify one theme and delete the unwanted information. Now comes the master plan which quintessentially includes:

  • Repainting the room
  • Shifting and shuffling
  • Giving life to some bare walls
  • Without much investment, giving space and character to your room
  • Some of the tips that can help you are:
  • Dismantle the old bookcase from the wall and put it on the floor. It can create a pleasant corner next to the bed
  • Invest in an antique piece of mirror and place it close to a window so that the light will reflect and will illuminate the room
  • Make that dull dressing table interesting by placing patchwork designs on it
  • Change those dull curtains
  • Add colourful rugs

Some more tips:

  • Take one thing at a time or things can get damn confusing
  • May seem silly but put everything on paper
  • In case you are working, make sure you have some house help to supervise the repairs if any
  • Accept that you can’t control everything. Unpleasant surprises may arise.
  • Finally, your involvement will reflect the makeover of your room.
  • Remember, you room too says a story about you.

So which place do you think is the sanctuary in your house? I think, the answer here will be unanimous. Yes, its bedroom that is one place where people rest at the end of the day. When in home, most of the people spend their maximum time in the bedroom and because of that, this place needs to be as peaceful as possible. The bedroom should be such that people let go of their problems and stress.

So how exactly to proceed about giving your bedroom a new feel? Well, before that, you need to take care of certain factors like having a television in your bedroom. The presence of TV in bedroom has been hotly debated citing reasons like; TV interferes with one’s sleeping cycle. Ideally a bedroom should be just for sleeping purpose only and nothing else. TV causes late night sleep and subsequently restless sleep. So, get your TV out of your bedroom and place it at a more appropriate place like drawing room or living room.

A crucial part of bedroom is color combination. It is normally recommended to have light brown or beige color in the bedroom as they are considered as the calmest colors. So, go for muted and neutral colors. Other color combinations that you can think of are light blue or green etc. keep in mind the overall theme and mood of the bedroom. If you are interested in calming blue then perhaps you can also think of a beach house feel.

For a beach house feel, one will need to have blue bed sheet, white linens and curtains. Furniture could be white washed beach wood type. One can always think of some extra effect in terms of decorating and accessories. Like, white candles in clear glass motives could be used around the room. Or one can also use some beautiful oceanic landscape paintings. Remember to leave your work outside the bedroom and feel relaxed and peaceful.
