Home décor can be expensive as well as cheap. There is no lack of designs and accessories that will cost you dearly but sometimes, few small adjustments can bring about a greater effect in overall look of the home décor. People love to decorate their houses with new, beautiful things. But often, after a few years they get tired of the same look and feel like getting a new look for their homes. But it is not exactly possible to change everything. Perhaps, movement of few furniture here and there but that’s all. However, what you can do is to add some versatile accessories in attractive ways. This will prove to be a masterstroke in changing the appearance of your home. Fresh flowers are a powerful tool in your hand. They can be used in decorating a room and can also add finishing touch to it. More often than not, people prefer to have a second accent color in addition to main color scheme of the room. Flowers should always complement the accent color. Fruit bowl is an underused accessory. You can make a beautiful use of it by placing fruits in the bowl and filling it up with water. Use some petals or few candles in the water. Additionally, you can place a wired sponge in the bowl and it will hold the flower arrangement.

 

Throw is a very useful accessory that can be used in many ways. Choose the throw color in coordination with colors of your bedroom and living room. Also pick matching cushions to complete the set. By using throw on the sofa, you can give later a warm and cozy look. You can also place the throw over your bedcover to give your room an instant facelift. Use bedcover in a single shade. People also use decorative throw to hang it on the wall.

 

The last idea is of using plants. They are cheap, economical and can add huge decorative vale to your home. Use plants in various colors. Apart from green, you should have white leaves plant, plants with maroon leaves, striped leaves, spotted and yellow leaves. You can use them on tables or stands or even windowsills.

There are number of home decorating trends. There are many styles that do vary from region to region but one thing is common in all the home decoration styles and that is the universal class and appeal of the styles. In a shrinking world, decoration styles are no longer restricted to a particular region. People are longing for new designs and they don’t mind adopting ‘different’ decorative styles. The home décor style initiated with primitive style that basically refers to an early stage of development. As the name suggests this is the most basic style of home décor. It includes handcrafted antique items, rag dolls and old wooden hay rakes etc.

Country style of décor has wooden dovetailed boxes, cotton fabrics, antique cotton quilts, stoneware bowls, woolen fabrics, hoosier cupboards and enamelware etc. the pieces of home décor are quite old but classic in nature. If you have seen rich brocades and velvets in walls, window dressings and future then it must be Victorian style of home décor. Victorian furnishing is complimented by mauves, burgundies, and shades of rich blues. Contemporary style is all about bold and bright patterns. It has mainly light-colored background. Accessories should have bright splashes of color. To compliment the contemporary décor, one can add abstracts and vinyl.

One of the popular and classy home decorative styles is French Country. Some of the highlights of this style are tiles on wall and floor, blues, rooster collections and an eclectic mix of elegance and rustic flavor. Art deco refers to the styles of 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Vibrant colors, metal furnishings, elegant lines and inlayed furniture etc were the hallmarks of this style. If you are fond of pastel colors, go for Cottage Country. Cottage type flowers, lightly covered windows and painted wicker etc are prime characteristics of this style. Some of the other home decorative styles are Eclectic, Traditional, Rustic, Mediterranean, Spanish, Oriental, Modern, classical and Whimsical.
