Ethnic decorations
Indian handicrafts are exported overseas as the clientele has a lot of value to the rich ethnicity of our Indian art work. While doing the interior of the house a touch of Indianism is often felt in the puja room or the living room. This is a personal choice and most home décor opt for a blend of contemporary designs and infuse modern trends to create the perfect balance.
The range of furniture and texturing of finishes is also evolving. While doing an Indian concept, one can go in for practical furniture. A study room definitely needs neat carpentry work though simple art pieces like a Ganesha idol or masks will add vibrancy to the décor. Handicrafts can be simple hand painted tea cups in ethnic designs, minakari work of pottery or the wonderful Jaipur art of pottery to adorn the kitchen shelves.
The hilly areas of India are rich in their wooden pieces of art. The spatulas, bowls are multipurpose in their use and also have aesthetic value. Wooden sculpture is also easy to clean and in case you are renovating the house just paint them to give it a spruced look. Cane furniture need not have the raw look but can be painted in pink or white and dusted with fabric colors that are simply ethnic in the concept.
Mud lamps are the best way to align the show case. There are jute works and wool thread art which can be placed as door hangings. Bells resonate positive energy and can be used as passage hangings. Another wonderful way to have lighting is the straw basket with a bulb inside it. Thermocol hangings in pastel colors also can be used as lamp shades.
Coffee tables can have ornamental designs and table tops can have painted or embroidery table cloths. Use a lot of cushion covers that are ready made in Indian designs and for creativity sew a satin threaded design to adorn your duvet, cushions or the ends of the bedsheet.
