Make room for the new

Renovation ideas often make us ponder whether to retain old items or let them stay. Most of the time we take our décor for granted and rarely make an attempt to replace them. Experts who decorate homes suggest alternatives are the best way to spruce up the interior. Make it a point to change show pieces and stack things differently whenever there is an opportunity.

Keep a space in the store room/area especially for the show pieces like masks, bells, china and wood works. This way you can choose the items and also store back the earlier decoration. During Xmas the usual setting is white and red and just bring in the change in your living room. It is very true that a house must look like a home and hence involve elements like drapes using old saris, sew up cushion covers with satin items. Use a bit of imagination and use sequins or mirror work at the edge of the curtains.

Certain items hold special sentimental value but too much of stocking makes the house clichéd. In case you have a lot of impractical furniture that blocks the entrance or seems to occupy the space in your living room, it is advisable to discard the same.  Furniture life also wears off and hence goes for dependable furniture in beds and kids section. Wood of the earlier times had natural finishes and antique ones are rare but yet rotate the decoration to get the maximum aesthetic value.

Look into your kitchen sets and drawers and remodel the same. China cups can be decorated with fabric colors and used as décor. In case the kids have grown up then change the round edge furniture to sleek styles in iron or steel. The cardinal rule for positivity is to avoid frayed ends, dull upholstery, torn items and anything that appears jagged.
