Create a room you love

Home is one of the most comfortable places in an individual’s life. Everyone loves to own a place even if it is small – something that they can say is their own and hence rooms should be decorated according to the personality of the individual who wants to live in. Hence, it makes sense to choose something that you love for your home décor.

First a fall, get rid of the clutter. No one loves clutter. Make a list of things that you love and things that should definitely be a part of your room – it may be a bean bag, a poster, a letter, a show piece, a wind chime, a CD, TV set, mirror anything. Next task is to choose the colour for your room. Do not get excited by some jazzy colours that you may love momentarily and hate the next moment. Choose something that you have been loving since ages. Colour can play a big role in inspiring and affecting your mood and state of mind. Choosing the right colour can provide peace to a great extent. If you want a room to be soothing and relaxing, choose a light colour. However, the decision is entirely yours as some people may feel more relaxed with a dark bright colour.

The next task is to choose furniture that you love. For me it is definitely a bean bag. It relaxes me and adds a certain amount of style to my room. You may want to select stylized chairs, low tables, old sofas etc. Now, choose images that you love. They can be photographs, paintings or even some written matter. Frame them with attractive decorative photo frames available. They are sure to bring some happy vibrations in you. The balance of comfort and style needs to be achieved. Most people forget that they have to decorate their room in a way that they can live in them. They overstuff their room. You should know where to stop. Do not over decorate your room. Leave some space for air.  You can use some cool things like a Chinese hand fan on the wall or a wind chime or even a digital photo frame.

Pay attention to linen, bed sheets, pillow covers, and curtains. Use colours that you love. You can even paint your own bed sheets and pillow covers and make them truly unique. Also, install good lighting. Proper lighting is essential for convenience. Use an expert’s opinion if you need. I love to be able to adjust the light in every room with dimmer switches. They are easy to install and help make space perfectly lit.

Space it

Apartments in metros are customized and standardized within square foot area. Often we find the rooms disproportionate or the passage small. There are several tricks an interior decorator has up his sleeve as the suggestions can actually make us optimize the limited space. Kitchen needs to be compact and a neat modular effect is very important. In case you need to have things handy then it is best to sit along with the designer and express your priorities. Existing remodeling of cabinets also makes the kitchen look vibrant and spacious.

Bathrooms often seem small when placed with fixtures and using it with intelligent color coordination in tiling is a great idea. Go for tiles like peach and flowery effect which also makes the room appear brighter and welcoming. Wash basin, tubs and simple arrangements like buckets can be looked up for unique colors and shapes. Kid’s bathroom items are just about peppy purchases.

Passages that lead us from one room to another need to have wall colors in peach, sunset yellow or whites. A simple frame or picture is more than enough to spruce up the area. Storage is often looked as a dump area for less used items. Many times you can use the spare area in the loft of top cabinets of the bedroom to lock up winter wear, rugs or foldable furniture. This way you can also keep changing the décor and give a different look as suited.

Wall units in the living room need to be uncluttered and instead of going for the clichéd wall units the idea can be used as individual stands. This can be located for keeping ornate items, television, DVD player or the music system. The color of the wall has to complement the wood work/color of the cabinet. While choosing rugs or wall hangings go for individual ones with very soft colors. Loud or too eye catchy colors will occupy space.
