Decorating home is exciting but requires some level of caution and care as well. Here are some of the things that one should not do while decorating a room in your home sweet home!

Do not be passive. Be active and get involved as much as you can while decorating your room. Do not allow others to make choices for you. This does not mean that you do not take other people’s choices and opinions. Suggestions are always welcome but your involvement and decisions plays a big role as well. Plan everything well and as a part of this it is important that you do not buy paints first. It is important that you choose your furniture, your upholstery and fabrics first and then decide on the paint. Planning well is half the task done as far as decorating your room is concerned.

Never buy paint or fabrics at your first visit in the store itself. It is always preferable to ask for samples and see which one suits best in your home. Check them out in the lighting at your home and also in natural lighting. It is not necessary to go for simplicity. I have heard this from many people that one should paint walls with light colours and keep it simple. However, this is totally untrue if you are somebody who loves bold colours. Go ahead and paint that wall black and red if you feel so. What is important however is to colour coordinate and understand the use of space and the psychology of colours. Keep something that you will love for years to come as you may not be able to change the colour of your wall so often. 

One of the most neglected parts in our house is bathroom. We spend so much in decoration of bedroom and living room that we often end up ignoring washroom. It is a fact that we spend significant time in the bathroom and despite that it is the last place that we think of while decorating interiors. Many of you may argue about small size of bathroom and need of decorating it but to be honest you can always make your bathroom look good with small bit of effort.

Three areas of the bathroom need special mention; toilet area, mirror area and shower. One of the cardinal rules of bathroom decoration is more neutral shades of tiles are, better it will look. Soft shades give it a descent touch. Many people prefer to have patterned tiles. For them it is best advised to use pattern as border. Try to ignore white tiles if possible. Colorful tiles will suit much better to the bathroom.

Sink is best used with a cabinet under it. The cabinet can go to the entire length of the mirror. Standalone sink wont suit a small bathroom unless it is very plush one. One can use several useful things like toilet cleaners, toilet paper, and waste basket inside the spacious cabinet. Drawers are other wonderful options to have in the space.

Mirrors play an important part in the overall scheme of the things. Best placed on a wall, mirror looks best with no frame. Many bathroom mirrors have cabinets but that makes small bathroom even smaller. So try to avoid cabinets in mirror. The bathing area should always be separated from the rest of the bathroom because of water logging issue. Have just one shelf in the bathroom and a towel rack. Following these tips is sure to make your bathroom look neat, clean and well managed.
