So now that you are done with decorating your walls, floors, ceilings and overall interiors, how about paying attention to doorknobs? Though, this is one small aspect of overall décor yet such small things should not be ignored. One choice that you always have is of replacing the doorknobs but at the same time, it would be more economical if you could spend some time on just redecorating them. The most basic step of redecorating your doorknobs is through painting. Smart painting can completely change the look of your doorknobs. Instead of traditional house or wall paints, try using metallic paints for a brand new silver, gold or pewter look. To provide a textured look to doorknobs, use dimensional paints.

Paintbrush go easily with metallic paints as they dry easily and thereafter, you can use up and down strokes or side to side brush strokes. Once the paint is dried, it creates a wonderful appearance for the doorknobs. You can even go for one coat of metallic paint to bring the desired effect. Similarly with textured paints, it also looks best once it is dried. To paint around the knob, use a brush or a piece of foam. You should use two coats for a long lasting effect.

If the doorknobs are large enough and you have an inclination towards art, you can paint a small scene on it. Use your imagination while painting. It can be unique and definitely an attractive feature of your home décor. Such small details can provide additional charm to the overall interior. You can also rub-on appliqués to brighten doorknobs. Other ideas for redecorating the doorknobs are gluing monograms or flat metallic initials on it or using hangers with it.

When it comes to choosing the paint, there is no dearth of choices. Whether you want to do it yourself or hire someone to do it for you, you can choose from plenty of paint choices. For instance, Alkyd is oil based solvent thinned paint. Alkyd paint has always been a popular choice for heavy traffic areas like cabinets, kitchen, doors and bathrooms etc. it helps in creating a smooth surface. Latex flat enamel is another useful choice. The paint has the benefit of latex and is actually more durable than normal latex. It’s quite easy to clean up but the finish is often flat.

Enamel paint provides you with a nice gloss. It is perfectly suitable for areas that are heavily used and need to be washed regularly. The interesting thing about enamel is that it can be available in both alkyd as well as latex form. If you are looking for heavy duty paint then look no further than floor and deck paint. It is mostly used outside on decks and is quite resistant to chips and cracks. High moisture areas will do well with epoxy paint that used two coatings. It can be easily cleaned also.

Always go for high quality paint brushes as cheap ones can spoil the fun of painting. It can also have a bad effect on paints in the long run. For water based paints, choose nylon bristles and for oil based paints, go for natural bristles. Good paint can make or mar the overall effect of interior décor. It is imperative to choose right paint, appropriate brushes and color to create the desired effect. Choosing right paint will not only help in creating right impression but will also save you good money in the long run.

The concept of interior decoration has reached to new heights. Every other day, we come across some new ideas and decorative tricks. Now, you can never say that you couldn’t find what you were looking for in home décor. You name it and you will have your favorite decorations and designs. Wall panels have got huge popularity in recent times. More and more urban households are looking for decorative wall panels which are available in a variety of finishes, textures and wood grains. If you are looking for decorative finishes and textures along with distinctive groove patterns, you will get plenty of them. That’s not all. Decorative wall panels are also available in wide-variety of species, hues and widths. You can install them in basements as well as below the grounds.

Sounds tempting, doesn’t it? Consumers are literally spoilt for choices when it comes to decorative wall panels. If you are looking for most favored varieties then have your pick from wainscot, beadboard panels, plank panels, decorative finish panels, project boards, woodgrain finish panels and lionite tileboard. Wainscot panels are available in different variety of woodgrains and styles. They can be perfect selection to add beauty and style to your décor. They also have distinctive double groove pattern.

If you are looking to add visual interest to your home then look no further than beadboard panels. Available in a variety of patterns in real and simulated wood, beadboard panels can also be used as accent walls. Plank panels are perhaps the easiest to install. They are considered ideal for installation on ceilings, accent walls, walls and wainscot. For texture and richness, decorative finish panels would be the perfect choice. Talking about project panels, they are also decorative wall panels. Most suitable for basement, garage and home office, project panels include chalk board. The toughest of all decorative wall panels is lionite tileboard which can prove to be a perfect choice for high moisture living areas.

Home décor is not restricted to a single dimension. Almost every part of your beloved home can be spruced up including that of doorways and entrances. Beautifully decorated doorways and entrances can be very enticing to the visitors and will make for good impression. Doors decoration is often ignored by the household owners in favor of halls and walls. But remember, by not decorating your doors you are missing a valuable opportunity to make your home seem even more inviting. A door can add to your home’s overall theme of comfort, warmth, and welcome.

The first thing that you can do is to hang a sign highlighting your family’s name. This will make visitors know who resides here. If you are not inclined to display your name then you can simply put up a ‘welcome’ sign. You can make these printed words very attractive by using different styles. You can carve the words from wood or have them shaped from vinyl or even molded from clay. You can visit local craft store to get more information about these ideas.

Additionally, you can use a planter using real or artificial flowers. Then bolt the planter on the door box. It will be a pleasant surprise for the visitors. Imagine your visitors ringing the buzzer and encountering the natural fragrance of your floral offering! Surely, a tempting idea! You can also try rotating seasonal wreaths. Floral wreath with lilac or forsythia accents will be a fascinating idea. You can always use your imagination to design new wreath every season, during both winter as well as summer.

You can also paint the door to match window shutters or latticework. The design should always be subtle and not loud. You can mount a figure or symbol as well. All in all, these are just few creative ideas that you can apply on decorating doors and entrance ways.

It is said that your first impression is often the last impression. Same applies to your home. Hence, your entrance is one of the most important areas of design because this is where your guest will get an idea about how your house is going to be like.

As for me, lighting is one of the most important aspects that go in designing an entrance hall. Use lanterns, bulbs, etc at your entrance because in case it is dark then it will guide the visitor towards your door. Also, carefully choose the light according to what you want to highlight. If you want to highlight a particular well designed carved wall then place the light accordingly. Alternatively, in case you want to highlight the white marble floor. Then you need to place your light downwards. The choice is yours however; good lighting itself makes sure that half your battle is won.

The next is the flooring. There are a lot of options available for decorating a modern home today. However, in case you choose for a more traditional approach, hard floorings such as stone flags, marble, terracotta tiles or wood are perfect choices. Do not forget to use colors for the flooring keeping in mind, the overall color scheme of the entrance way.

Personifying your entrance itself gives a way to the visitor to your ideas and creativity. Apart from using a decorative name plate, try and use elements like wall hangings, welcome plates, paintings, photo frames etc that enhance your entrance. You could also use a wall mirror because visitors may want to see themselves before they enter your house. It is also give a feeling of space and light into what otherwise might be a rather dull area.

Home is one of the most comfortable places in an individual’s life. Everyone loves to own a place even if it is small – something that they can say is their own and hence rooms should be decorated according to the personality of the individual who wants to live in. Hence, it makes sense to choose something that you love for your home décor.

First a fall, get rid of the clutter. No one loves clutter. Make a list of things that you love and things that should definitely be a part of your room – it may be a bean bag, a poster, a letter, a show piece, a wind chime, a CD, TV set, mirror anything. Next task is to choose the colour for your room. Do not get excited by some jazzy colours that you may love momentarily and hate the next moment. Choose something that you have been loving since ages. Colour can play a big role in inspiring and affecting your mood and state of mind. Choosing the right colour can provide peace to a great extent. If you want a room to be soothing and relaxing, choose a light colour. However, the decision is entirely yours as some people may feel more relaxed with a dark bright colour.

The next task is to choose furniture that you love. For me it is definitely a bean bag. It relaxes me and adds a certain amount of style to my room. You may want to select stylized chairs, low tables, old sofas etc. Now, choose images that you love. They can be photographs, paintings or even some written matter. Frame them with attractive decorative photo frames available. They are sure to bring some happy vibrations in you. The balance of comfort and style needs to be achieved. Most people forget that they have to decorate their room in a way that they can live in them. They overstuff their room. You should know where to stop. Do not over decorate your room. Leave some space for air. You can use some cool things like a Chinese hand fan on the wall or a wind chime or even a digital photo frame.

Pay attention to linen, bed sheets, pillow covers, and curtains. Use colours that you love. You can even paint your own bed sheets and pillow covers and make them truly unique. Also, install good lighting. Proper lighting is essential for convenience. Use an expert’s opinion if you need. I love to be able to adjust the light in every room with dimmer switches. They are easy to install and help make space perfectly lit.

Decorating the entrance with Chinese urns, Jaipur pottery/ceramics is a brilliant idea which also offers flexible options in remodeling. French doors are also common in urban homes.

The first impression as you enter a home is registered by a door. The urban homes are usually done in a stereotype manner but there are many ideas one can use to make the entrance interesting.
