Feng Shui is immensely popular now a day. This ancient practice has been followed by many urban households. Feng Shui places a great emphasis on plants. Considered as very auspicious, plants must be grown in the house to attain prosperity and peace. Wooden plants are specially advised in Feng Shui. Placing plants in the office is also very auspicious. The preferred directions are south, east or south-east. It helps in increasing luck in your career. Ideally, one should not have thorny plants in the interiors. They act as protective shields so they must be used outside the house. Place thorny plants like cactus slightly away from the door or in the balcony.

Couples with no kids should place a basket of fruits in the bedroom. In Feng Shui, fertility is symbolized by fruits especially pomegranates. Married couples should not have flowers in the bedroom. Never ever allow to have dried flowers in the house. They bring bad luck. Instead, one can use artificial flowers as they are supposed to bring luck. Bonsai plants are another no-no. They are growth impediment so must not be used inside or outside the house. Always try to have fresh flowers in the house as they bring good luck. Throw them out once they die. Plants must be trimmed on a regular basis. Don’t allow trees in your garden to overwhelm your house.

Lemons and oranges are strong symbols of fortune so they should be placed on the entrance. Do not use any Feng Shui symbols in bathroom as they can turn away the luck. Don’t sit with your back facing the door. Try placing a painting or image of mountain range on the wall behind your back. Use these tips and allow fortune to come your way.

Staircases can be done in elaborate styles. In case of a duplex, villa or a palatial house the staircase is another area which can enhance the interior. Designers are expert in this field and do a continuous research on the subject thereby creating new formats which remains an experience for them. Apart from the cosmetic appearance stairways need to have a sturdy impact as the usage is high.

Office staircases for mezzanine floors are also a wonderful way to maintain the formal tone. There are rounded designs, straight flight ups and also zig zag ones and others resemble the keys of a piano. The color must complement the room color. White obviously gives an impression of roomy appeal and maintaining white stairway is quite an ordeal.

Wooden finish on stairways must be of dependable quality and checks must be made to detect chipping. There are interesting stairway hangings in cloth, jute, textile and also wooden handicrafts that can be lined along the path where the interior is ethnic. Decoration for Diwali seems exquisite with diyas or tiny lamps all along the stairway. The walls adjacent to stairway can be lined with unique paintings or family portraits that are appealing to people visiting the house.

Random placing of metal or brass works like urns, Alladin lamp, lantern or faux pas treasure chest is another way to bring in a very traditional charm on a plain stairway. Banisters can have wooden works or decorations in the oriental concept which can be studded with shining works. Lining the stairway with lights is another decorative idea.

Staircases take you to the location of another floor or room and hence there is a necessity to already create an impression of what lies next. Carpets of good quality can be lined and it is necessary to maintain the quality with regular shampooing. Marble, wood, fiber and stone stairways are great many choices to choose from and aided with the services of a creative decorator, the living room can be highlighted in the best way.
