A living room should ideally speak a thousand words. It means that the living room should reveal your personality. It should speak about the person you are. For example, I once visited a friends’ house and I was quite mesmerized with the collection of paintings that were put up on the wall. The colours of the painting, the themes of the painting and even the way they were arranged spoke a lot about the personality of the friend. Factors like lighting in the living room, the kind of curtains that are used and the furniture that is put up shows whether you are a person that prefers decoration or you want to keep things simple and organized or you would rather evoke the ‘messy’ feeling in the room, etc! You can also change it during the times of reading or watching TV.  And yes, they totally enhance the overall look of the room.

Lamps are very effective in family room or living room. You can place them near sofas. Having few photo frames around lamps will further add to the atmosphere. If you are an art connoisseur you must be fond of having paintings on your wall. In that case, try using spot lighting above the paintings and check the difference. You will be delighted.

Lastly, your home will look even more beautiful if you tinker around with natural lighting. That’s the best form of light and it adds certain character to the house. Natural light not only brings freshness to the home but also gives it a happy feel.
